The Story

Funny Girl is loosely based on the life and times of Fanny Brice, a girl who dreams of performing on stage one day. It revolves around the tumultuous love story of businessman and gambler Nick Arnstein and Fanny, who was a Broadway performer, film actor, and comedienne. The relationship between Fanny and Nicky is rife with extraordinary difficulties and miscommunication that lead to more troubles and sometimes unnecessary and dramatic complications. However, Funny Girl is a love story and a true one. One that, in the end, is deeply moving and really charming, albeit somewhat bittersweet.
