The Broadway Box Office records reveal a gross income of $1.54 billion and 12.3 million attendances, continuing the positive growth from last season.

Despite a slow growth towards pre-Covid levels, the Broadway season report for the latest 2023-2024 season, which began on May 22, 2023, shows promise. The season included 11,463 performances, ran over 1,471 weeks, and yielded $1.54 billion with 12.3 million audience members in attendance. Although the gross income values suffered a small dent from last season's $1.58 billion, the audience numbers reveal an uptick from last year. A slight dip in average ticket prices likely impacted the season's collection. Overall, nearly 90% of available seats were filled this season, an increase from last year's percent capacity of 88.35%.

Old favorites continue to entertain

Of the 71 productions included in the season, 32 were continuing productions with the popular Lion King production grossing the highest total of $2.03 million in sales. The top ten slots were dominated by classics, with Hamilton, Aladdin, Wicked, and MJ The Musical continuing their spell at the Box Office. Many stars, including Rachel McAdams, Jim Parsons, Sarah Paulson, Eddie Redmayne, Danielle Radcliffe, Steve Carell, and William Jackson Harper, among others, graced the stage with their brilliant performances this year.

New stars on the block

Cabaret, Merrily We Roll Along, and Hell's Kitchen led the way for the new productions this season, each capturing a spot in the $1 million club among this year's performances. Cabaret has particularly captivated audiences with strong performances, among the 39 new productions this season, marking a majority for the rising new stars. Of the 39 newly opened productions, 22 were musicals, 16 plays, and 2 special engagements on stage. The Alicia Keys Musical - Hell's Kitchen showed promise with the highest yet gross of its run at $1.6 million collected this season. Another auto-biographical hit, Lempicka, helped push numbers during the last week with fans filling 97% of the seats at the Longacre Theater.
